Softshell, one of the leading distributors of cybersecurity systems in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH), highlighted Versasec in its recent "Softshell Vendor Report 2017" that assesses the readiness of vendors to serve customers in the DACH region.

We earned a very respectable 7.65 of a possible 8.5 in the report. The team at Softshell evaluate vendors through a variety of means, including market analysis, phone- and web-based research, and face-to-face interviews with vendors. The resulting score "shows how well a company and its products are positioned to meet the needs of the DACH market, and thus how likely it is that they will succeed in the region.

Specific criteria used in the judging included the following 9 parameters (for a possible maximum score of 8.5):

  1. German user interface (yes/some/no)
  2. Support in German language (yes/no)
  3. Support in Central European Time Zone (yes/no)
  4. DACH-based company or subsidiary (HQ/subsidiary/no)
  5. DACH sales team (yes/no)
  6. DACH pre-sales team or engineers (yes/no)
  7. DACH resellers or distributors (yes/no)
  8. DACH reference customers (yes/no)
  9. Inclusion in a 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017 Gartner's Magic Quadrant or Cool Vendor Report (yes/no)

Each vendor's score was calculated by taking the average of the nine parameters. All factors are weighted equally (yes=10, partially=5, no=0) except for inclusion in a Gartner Magic Quadrant or Cool Vendor listing, which is weighted as half a factor (yes=5, no=0). The Softshell report is designed to help its customers - including end customers, system integrators and resellers -- who are assessing which cybersecurity companies and solutions they should consider within the German-speaking market.

As Softshell noted, "The global cybersecurity market is growing and changing at a rapid pace. A 2017 report by IDC estimates that worldwide spending on security technology could reach up to $105 billion (USD) by 2020. Companies are racing to keep up with the growing number of threats and risks that they face every day. In order to do so, they must decide what solutions to invest in, which can be a challenge, given the amount of choices available. Our goal for this Report is to present the complex international array of cybersecurity hardware and software solutions in a more transparent and simplified manner. By doing this, we aim to provide a solid basis for end customers, system integrators, and resellers alike to evaluate potential new vendors and technologies."

The team at Versasec, which includes our Research and Development Center in Germany, is very pleased to be included in the Softshell report. In addition to our offices in Germany, Versasec also has a variety of additional locations around the world, supporting our global sales as well as our existing customers, partners and resellers in North America, EMEA, and Asia.

We're also proud to note that Softshell is proving to be a great partner for us in the DACH region. We announced our partnership in early July (https://versasec.com/docs/2017.07.05_Versasec-SoftShell.pdf) that allows Softshell to resell Versasec products to resellers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
