Smart Card Management
Smart cards are devices that can be used for many purposes, the most important purpose for the enterprise security market, is as identification tokens. For professional smart card use cases, especially when the smart cards are used as identification tokens, the smart cards should be managed during their lifecycle.
Personalization Management Revocation
Figure 1: The smart card lifecycle: Personalization, Management and Revocation
Personalization tasks include setting PIN codes, setting policies, loading certificates, provisioning and setting management keys. Management tasks include unblocking PIN codes, setting new PIN codes, renewing and issuing new certificates. Revocation is generally the end of the smart card lifecycle, but it could also mean that the card can be personalized again. All these tasks and many more, are handled by the vSEC:CMS® smart card management system.

No Installation, High Security, No Dedicated Servers, Low TCO
The vSEC:CMS® T-Series is an innovative, easily integrated and cost effective smart card management system that will help you deploy and manage smart cards within your organization. The vSEC:CMS® T-Series is delivered pre-installed on a secure USB token with the application, configuration settings and credentials residing securely on the USB token, thereby removing the requirement to invest in expensive server hardware. It streamlines all aspects of smartcard
management by connecting to enterprise directories, certificate authorities, physical access control systems etc.
Smart Card Lifecycle
All smart card operations within vSEC:CMS® T-Series focus on the lifecycle of the smart cards. To
graphically visualize the lifecycle, a state diagram is used. This state diagram always informs the operator what state the selected smart card is in, and available actions/processes from this state. The same diagram is also used by the administrator when configuring the processes.
