Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
Versasec offers managed secure cloud computing services in the form of SaaS. This model of cloud computing delivers a single application through a browser to thousands of customers using a multitenant architecture. On the customer side, it means no upfront investment in servers or software licensing; on the provider side, with just one application to maintain, costs are low compared to conventional hosting.
This model allows customers to focus on critical business objectives instead of hosting complicated solutions with very high security requirements. The solutions offered include systems for managing, ordering and operating smart cards.
One such SaaS solution currently provided by Versasec is a Smart Card Ordering System (SCOS). SCOS is a secure web application that facilitates customers to place orders and manage smart cards from a smart card vendor bureau. An example screen from SCOS is presented below.
