Founder Series: Introducing Paul Foley

Fifteen years ago, Versasec’s Fab Four, experts in Identity and Access Management and finance, came together to start what today we know as Versasec. Their mission? To empower organizations to efficiently and practically manage digital identities; protecting user identities and user devices.
Our second video introduces Paul Foley, co-founder of Versasec, and Director of Services. Paul has had the opportunity to experience the cybersecurity industry firsthand in his native Ireland. Continuing in Silicon Valley, Philadelphia and currently residing in England. From the UK, he leads Versasec efforts in the region as well as managing a global, multicultural team that provides first-class support.
With a degree in computer science from the University of Limerick, Paul started out working as a developer building cutting edge security Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems. Then moved into consultancy roles on some of the largest global IAM projects. Paul is known to be dedicated, result-driven, and determined.
Paul and Joakim Thorén (Versasec’s current CEO), met in 1999 when Joakim relocated to Silicon Valley. It would be 8 years later when they came together alongside Per-Anders and Joerg Dettman to be part of the Fabulous 4 and start Versasec. It was their earlier years in the smart card industry that would show them the complexity, usage, and importance of managing credentials.
Paul Foley has been a substantial contributor to the foundation and development of Versasec. Constantly in contact with the customer, Paul has a keen interest in their issues, new requirements, and feedback. He has shaped the direction the Versasec product suite has evolved and continues to do so, to this day.
