Versasec Joins SOFF: Strengthening the Identity Layer of National Defense

For our community members outside of Scandinavia, this name might be new, but the impact of this partnership is global. We’re happy to share that this membership is an exciting step for Versasec and the future of identity-driven defense.

What is SOFF?

SOFF is the primary trade organization for the defense and security sector in Sweden. It represents over 250 companies, ranging from industrial giants like Saab and BAE Systems to innovative tech leaders like Versasec.

But SOFF is not just a club. It acts as the official bridge between private innovation and national security. It works directly with the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV), and international bodies like NATO to ensure that modern defense forces have access to the best technology in the world.

Why Identity Security is the “New Front Line”

In the past, “defense” was mostly about hardware: tanks, planes, and ships. Today, defense is increasingly digital. As Sweden integrates more deeply with NATO and modernizes its military infrastructure, the most critical question is no longer just “where is the equipment?” but “who has access to the system?”

This is where Versasec Credential Management comes in.

Modern military operations rely on a “Zero Trust” architecture. This means that every single person, from a field officer to a high-level commander, must be verified using the highest possible security standards. Versasec’s mission is to provide the Credential Management System (CMS) that orchestrates these identities.

Our Role in the Defense Ecosystem:

• Phishing-Resistant Authentication: Military systems cannot rely on passwords or basic SMS codes. We manage the lifecycle of hardware-backed credentials (like PKI smart cards and FIDO2 security keys) that are virtually impossible to hack.
• Sovereignty & Compliance: As a Stockholm-headquartered company, we provide “Cyber Sovereignty.” We help ensure that the digital keys protecting a nation’s infrastructure are managed by trusted technology that meets strict international standards.
• Interoperability: In a joint NATO environment, different systems must talk to each other securely. Our orchestration platform ensures that secure identities work seamlessly across various hardware, software, and cloud environments.

Looking Ahead

By joining SOFF, Versasec gains a “seat at the table” during critical policy discussions about how to protect democratic societies. It allows us to collaborate more closely with other defense leaders to incorporate identity security directly into the next generation of defense hardware and software.

As we move into 2026, the need for robust, automated, and high-assurance identity management has never been greater. We are excited to work alongside our fellow SOFF members to keep our communities and countries safe.
